Mandarin Playgroup

The Mandarin Playgroup is a fun, immersive language enrichment program designed for Grade 1–4 students with little to no prior exposure to Mandarin Chinese. Through play-based learning, music, movement, storytelling, and hands-on activities, students are introduced to Mandarin in a low-pressure, engaging environment that builds confidence and curiosity.

The program focuses on listening and speaking skills first, allowing children to naturally absorb the sounds and rhythm of Mandarin while developing cultural awareness.

Program Goals

Learning Approach

• Play-based immersion: games, role-play, and interactive activities
• Music & movement: songs, chants, and physical response activities
• Storytelling & visuals: picture books, puppets, and props
• Hands-on learning: crafts, simple cooking activities, and cultural projects
• Small-group interaction to support different learning paces

English may be used sparingly to support comprehension, but Mandarin is emphasized in a natural and encouraging way.
