Extended Day
The Extended Day program provides daily, fee-based childcare for students in Tiny Torreys through Grade 4. Grades 5–6 students are supervised at no cost.Students in Tiny Torreys and Jr. Kindergarten spend their afternoons in the Early Childhood Center (ECC), while kindergarteners stay comfortable in their familiar kindergarten area. Students in Grades 1–4 split their time between the Lower School playground and a homework classroom. An afternoon snack is provided. Kindergarten Summer Course Catalog
Ready, Set, Go, Kindergarten and Camp Torreys Kindergarten This program is only available to students enrolled at LJCDS in fall 2025. Students must bring a morning and afternoon snack, a non-perishable lunch (no nuts, please), and a reusable water bottle every day. Mornings Drop-off occurs in the parking lot off of Eastgate Mall Road. A kindergarten staff member is in the parking lot and walks your child to their classroom. Pickup is on the kindergarten playground, accessible from the parking lot off of Eastgate Mall Road. Afternoons Drop-off and pickup take place in the kindergarten playground. Music Lessons Winter
These after-school lessons are available through a partnership with Villa Musica, a local non-profit community music center. They take place on campus and are designed to be a nurturing environment where students can further develop skills they learn during the day with music classes and ensembles directed by LJCDS music teachers. Parents will be billed through the school for lesson fees. Lesson options include: Private violin lessons (Grades 1–12) Private piano lessons (Grades 1–12) Private voice lessons (Grades 1-12) Private guitar lessons (Grades 3–12) Students with private lessons will meet with their teacher for 30 minutes between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. one day a week. AM–SPORTS (Gr. 1–10): Tennis Camp

This camp teaches and enhances the students’ love for the sport of tennis in a structured environment that focuses on teaching solid fundamentals to allow for proper development. Sign up for one week or all eight. Each day of camp includes drilling and stroke production, footwork and movement, and appropriate strategy sessions based on skill level. Continual evaluation and feedback are provided. What to bring: Each player must bring their tennis racket and any other items they feel necessary to compete, plus a snack and refillable water bottle. Please make sure the player’s name is on all items. Villa Musica Summer Camps for young and aspiring musicians provide a nurturing and exploratory environment for musical growth. Camps are tailored by mixing the classic summer camp fun with independent learning and musical expertise. Each camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and is hosted on the LJCDS campus. Pine Tones
The Pine Tones is LJCDS’ Lower and Middle School choir. It is open to any student who wants to sing; no audition or prior experience is required. The Pine Tones will perform at several school and community events throughout the school year, including a day at Disneyland Resort with a Disney Cast Member choir workshop in March and a final performance in May. This program runs in the fall, winter, and spring sessions from Sept. 9–May 19. There is no class on school holidays plus Jan. 6. Price includes uniforms, All Kids Create festival fees, and Disney workshop transportation and admission. Lower School Strings
Students choose to learn to play the violin or cello. This class focuses on technique and note-reading skills, with at least two concert performances each school year. In addition to the after-school lessons, students receive a group class weekly during recess or PE time. Participation in this program is contingent on the student taking private lessons concurrently outside of school. Students can be in both strings and the PE tennis program. Lower School Orchestra (Audition based)
Advanced Grade 3 and 4 students who show competency with note reading may be invited to join the Lower School Orchestra. They may audition in the fall or be recommended by the instructor. Grade 2 students who demonstrate an advanced proficiency level, study privately outside of school, and show developmental readiness may also audition or be recommended by the instructor. Orchestra members participate in two weekly group lessons during the school day and perform in at least three concerts each school year. Students can be in both strings and the PE tennis program. Athletic Performance Camp (Grades 6–12)
Whether a novice or champion, one-sport or multisport athlete, we have the program for you. Enhance your skills with joint integrity, stabilization, balance, coordination, agility, functional strength and conditioning. The mechanics of running, jumping and moving in multiple directions are covered. Registrants can choose to attend multiple weeks and session times.
